This club caters to black and brown queer people and their friends. A request to commit to good vibes, safer party spaces and to revolutionary dancefloors. Marginalized bodies to the center! Mind the space you take if you attend to this party outside of these identities!
THEME
This December we celebrate queer brown lives as well as 50 years of hiphop in a form of mini kiki ball with 4 (5) categories that spoke to the Club U-Haul spirit.
In our lifetimes, hiphop has been the most representative black culture available in mainstream media, where people of colour have been able to see themselves. In Finland, in Scandinavia this has been one of the only representations available for bipoc people until the end of the 90's. Hiphop culture has it's issues, but we are here to be queer and reclaim our time with the bobs, beats and right to word out our needs. We ask you to leave it all, all, all on the revolutionary dancefloor.
You are invited to walk a category you know, do not hot mess our runway!

What is the Kiki Scene?
"The kiki scene originated from social gatherings—"kikis"—at health outreach organizations, such as the Gay Men's Health Crisis and Hetrick-Martin Institute, where members of the ballroom community could get together to socialize and practice for the mainstream balls, as well as get connected to HIV prevention services, testing and counseling. Through these kiki functions, they started to develop their own separate system of houses and balls, which mirror the structure of those in the mainstream ballroom scene. Today the kiki scene provides a place for younger members of the ballroom scene to gain exposure, competition and leadership experience, all against a continued backdrop of safe-sex messaging" - The Fader, 2014
